 The U.S. Chamber just released the results of a study on telecom regulatory reform that I wrote with colleagues Tom Hazlett of the Manhattan Institute, Coleman Bazelon of Analysis Group , and Deborah Allen Hewitt, from the College of William and Mary. Our work on this projects illustrates the pivotal role of telecommunications to the health of our economy and the competitiveness of American businesses. We found that an overhaul of the Telecom Act would generate $58 billion in additional capital spending over the next five years, raising output by $167 billion. The reform would also raise average GDP by $634 billion over the next five years and create more than 212,000 jobs over that same period. Both the summary and the complete study are available.
